Artist: Paul Tzanetopoulos, Los Angeles, CA.
Location: Cancer Treatment Center, Long Beach Community Medical Center, Long Beach, CA
District: District 8
Description: A turquoise web of floating leaves hovers over the waiting room. The subtle network of color suspended within the recessed ceiling seeks to transcend the hospital environment by gracefully generating a sense of tranquility. This digitally rendered mural is a tribute to artist's father, Spero, who was also a cancer victim. The leaves serve as arrows, point in limitless directions and suggest a quiet whirlwind of possibility. Directly in front of the entrance and below the ceiling is the silhouette of a tree, listing the names of those that have donated funding to the facility. Spero's arrows and corresponding tree contributes to a living memory of hope for the cancer victims and their families.
Funding: The art project was funded entirely by the Long beach Community Medical Center (LBCMC)
Completion: October 1996
