Port of San Diego - Urban Trees sculptural artwork

The Port of San Diego has issued a Request for Proposals for a seventh Urban Trees sculptural artwork exhibit for the North Embarcadero area of San Diego's downtown waterfront. The new exhibit is to be called "Urban Trees 7." Up to 30 artists or teams will be selected to create original sculptural artworks for display along North Harbor Drive between the "B" Street Cruise Ship Terminal and Hawthorn Street. The City of Raleigh invites artists who are United States citizens to submit qualifications to provide site-specific public art for Raleigh's new Buffaloe Road Aquatic Center.

BUDGET: $70,000 inclusive of all expenses.

GLOW - City of Santa Monica

Artwork for one-night biannual arts festival. Commissions for new artwork range from $1,500 to $2,500.

The City of Santa Monica is seeking proposals from artists and/or artist teams for temporary art installations for the city's biannual all-night event, Glow. First produced on July 19th, 2008, Glow was wildly successfully, with twenty seven art installations (and over 100 artists) dispersed on the Santa Monica beach and adjacent areas. Over 200,000 people came to savor art that was always engaging and in many cases interactive. On September 25, 2010, Santa Monica Beach, Palisades Park and surrounding areas will host unique and diverse temporary artworks. Inspired by Paris'all-night festival, Nuit Blanche, The Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division is pleased to invite artists to partake in this unprecedented nighttime event by submitting proposals for
artwork.

DEADLINE: Monday, April 12, 2010. Materials must be received by Cultural Affairs no later than 5 PM, no exceptions, this is not a postmark deadline.

WEST SEATTLE AND MAPLE LEAF RESERVOIR ARTWORKS

The Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation (Parks) and Seattle Public Utilities (SPU), seeks two artists for public art projects - one for Maple Leaf Reservoir Park and one for West Seattle Reservoir at Westcrest Park. Two artists will be selected from the same pool of applicants and each will be assigned to one of the two parks projects. Online Application Apply using CaFÉTM, a Web-based application service. ELIGIBILITY This call is open to professional artists residing in the United States. The Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs encourages diversity in its collection. Artists whose work is well-represented in the city's collection are eligible to apply, but the artist selection panel will consider artistic diversity as one factor in the selection process. Students are not eligible to apply.

BUDGET This call is for two $150,000 art projects. The total project budget for each project is $150,000, all-inclusive of travel expenses, taxes and other project costs. Each artist will receive $22,000 during the design phase and $128,000 for fabrication and installation of the artwork.

The Community Redevelopment Agency for Delray Beach, Florida is seeking artists to design an artistic sculpture at the West Atlantic Avenue Public Plaza (S/W/C of West Atlantic Avenue and Southwest 5th Avenue) in Delray Beach, Florida 33444

BUDGET $15,000.00

A budget of $15,000.00 is to be utilized by the artist whose proposal is accepted by the Delray Beach CRA. An Agreement shall be entered into between the Delray Beach CRA and the successful proposer to design, fabricate and install the Public Art Sculpture within the $15,000.00 budget allocated for the
project.

The Los Angeles County MTA is seeking five artists for the Metro Orange Line Extension.

The Metro Orange Line Extension dedicated busway will extend four miles north from Canoga Station to the Metrolink Chatsworth Station, and will include a new bikeway and pedestrian path, landscaping, additional parking areas and public art.

Art In The Open (AIO) is a citywide festival that celebrates artists, their inspirations for creating art, and the process of art making in the urban environment. Re-framing the tradition of artists working in plein air (creating work outside, on-site), AIO invites interested artists working in any medium to apply to AIO: the jury will select 30 artists to create new work outside, on-site, over the four-day period of June 9-12, 2010 along the banks of the tidal Schuylkill River - from the historic Fairmont Park Water Works and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, south to landmark Bartram's Garden. ABOUT THE EL PASEO INVITATIONAL EXHIBITION:
El Paseo is the premier shopping street in Palm Desert and the Coachella Valley, located in Southern California. The exhibition space consists of eighteen concrete pads located in the median along a one and one half mile stretch of prime retail. Artwork will be installed October - November 2010 and remain on site until November 2012.

Call to Curators

Chapman University's Guggenheim Gallery is soliciting curatorial proposals for Fall 2010 exhibitions. We are
interested in exhibition proposals that support the curriculum of the Art Department which includes classes in studio art, graphic design, new media and art history. (See link to current course offerings). We are open to a variety of proposals and encourage innovative responses to the curriculum. Proposals might be for solo or small group shows or for larger exhibitions. During the 2010 -2011 academic year departments in the College of Performing Arts will be sponsoring presentations that examine aspects of war, its roots and consequences. Ideas for exhibitions referencing war will be welcomed along with proposals organized around other topics. Proposals will be reviewed by the Art Department faculty. Three proposals will be chosen, one of which will be design-oriente
d.

An honorarium of $800.00 will be paid to the curator of each exhibition. Curatorial responsibilities include
development of the curatorial concept and a budget, contacting artists, providing a check list of works to be included in the exhibition, writing a 1000 - 1500 word essay about the exhibition, overseeing the installation of the exhibition and either arranging for a lecture by an artist(s) in the exhibition or delivering a lecture about the exhibition.

Support provided by the Guggenheim Gallery and the Art Department includes the services of a preparator,
installation and de-installation of the exhibition, pickup and return of artwork, secretarial assistance with insurance forms,telephone calls, etc. design and printing of the essay and organization of the opening reception. There is an all inclusive budget of $3000.00 for each exhibition. Due to the prohibitive cost of shipping artwork, we encourage interested parties to give first consideration to artists in the southern California region.

The Guggenheim Gallery is, a 1600 sq. ft. gallery with 15' walls. Artwork is insured, door-to-door. The gallery is
alarmed when it is not open. There is a student gallery sitter during gallery hours, which are M - F 12:00 - 5:00 and Sat 11:00 - 4:00. The gallery is not climate controlled.

DEADLINE: Proposals are due in the Art Department office by Friday, April 2, 2010. Proposals should include a brief description of your idea for the exhibition, a list of possible artists, sample images of artworks and the curator's professional resume. Venice Arts is seeking to develop a pool of qualified, professional documentary photographers and/or photojournalists interested in working with youth on Independent Contract basis. Selected faculty will be trained by Venice Arts and given teaching assignments in either our ongoing programs or special projects. Regarding the latter,
these may be local, regional, statewide, or international.Qualifications:

Must have experience and strong commitment to documentary photography, photojournalism, or street photography. Prior experience teaching youth a strong plus, as is familiarity with participant photography and visual storytelling. Must be expert working in digital media, including image management. Must be available during standard after-
school hours and/or on weekends or, if assigned to a special documentary project (regional, international), available for one- to two-week intervals. Must be interested in a long-term affiliation with Venice Arts.

Arts & Services for Disabled, Inc. (ASD) is a private non-profit organization, established in 1982, that is dedicated to providing opportunities in the arts for people with disabilities. ASD offers community-based Accessible Arts Workshops throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties to assist people with individual needs who have a desire to increase their skills and knowledge in the arts, and who may be unable to participate in other art programs.

Accessible Arts Workshops is currently looking for a few teaching artists from all artistic disciplines to provide 1 hour workshops for adults and children with disabilities. Experience working with people with disabilities is preferred. 



Job Description:

  The Teaching Artist will plan the workshop activities, create class descriptions, complete lesson plans, maintain supplies, conduct the workshops, set-up the workshop space, assist the workshop participants, clean up after the workshops and maintain the workshop supplies.

Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Known for its grand architecture and strict discipline, this was the world's first true "penitentiary," a prison designed to inspire penitence, or true regret, in the hearts of convicts.  Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America's most notorious criminals, including bank robber Willie Sutton and Al Capone.  Tours today include the cellblocks, solitary punishment cells, Al Capone's Cell, and Death Row. A critically-acclaimed series of artists installations is free with admission.

The Friends of AIDS Foundation:  POSITIVE INSPIRATIONS

POSITIVE INSPIRATIONS© is the exciting and upcoming publication to benefit the work of The Friends of AIDS Foundation.  It will feature approximately 250 pieces of work from around the world. Each artist will receive full acknowledgment for their contribution. The book will have a reference section which shall include artist contact and website information. Each artist will also have the opportunity to express something about the HIV pandemic.

The Foundation seeks original and ready to print art, photographic, and literary works with a spiritual influence for inclusion in POSITIVE INSPIRATIONS.  The Friends of AIDS Foundation has established a POSITIVE INSPIRATIONS Committee that is responsible for reviewing all work submitted. Once the final selection has been made, each artist will be notified and provided with additional instructions.  The release of POSITIVE INSPIRATIONS will be backed by an aggressive marketing campaign, which shall include a live auction.

Deadline:  June 30, 2010. The anticipated date of release is the fourth quarter of 2010.
